Big Ups
A lot of happenings lately...Lily Allen plays at the HOB on Friday...Bloc Party tickets go on sale tomorrow at Ticketmaster....The Smashing Pumpkins just announced some new Rock the Bells tickets are on sale now ( presale password: Guerilla). Yikes, hope you all have enough money for all of that, if not go sell some body parts or something.

New Shows...
Two summer lineups just came out, one for Viejas and the other for Humphrey's by the Bay. Some highlights include Bloc Party!, Wolfmother, and Musiq. That's about it unless you're into Boyz II Men and Hootie...

Two relevant Bloc Party pieces of news to report...went to the concert in LA last Monday, can't say enough about them live, they rocked and if you get a chance to check out the Wiltern theater go....

In addition, Bloc Party just announce a surprising date at Viejas on June 16th, tickets are on sale now, buy them...

Shana Levy
Take a look at this post from another blog in my music network....the artist is Shana Levy and her band is Let's Go Sailing, very good stuff from what I've heard and she's playing the Casbah on March 21st. Not your standard Casbah fare but worth the $10, check it out....
Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990-2005
Go check out the new Annie Leibovitz exhibition at the SDMA in Balboa Park. Lots of interesting portraits of celebrities including some of her work for Rolling Stone. Back in the 70's she was one of the more renowed rock and roll photographers but her other stuff is pretty amazing....its only $10, you know you want to....

Definitive...as in not really
Just saw a commercial for "the definitive 200 cd's of all-time". Now, browsing through the list they are clearly some of the best and top-selling albums of all time, especially if you're in to letting people tell you what to listen to. Music is like anything else, people have different tastes and like different things. If you want to impress the hoi polloi and follow the crowd then definitely buy all 200 cd's. Or you could just buy music that you like and screw the list...
The San Diego Scene
San Diego night life is strong to fairly strong if I say so myself. However I feel that living in San Diego consists of residing in certain bubbles. If you've lived here long enough you know what I mean, there is the PB "bubble", the downtown "bubble", etc. Here are two blogs that look like they have some promise and may be able to help you get out and diversify your nightlife portfolio. They're both from the San Diego Union Tribune, which isn't very indie, but hopefully they can remain agenda free. The first one is the Velvet Rope which has your club/bar scene covered. Pretty well written I must say, but the updates have been spotty as of late. The other blog is Liner Notes which, again, is well written but is still in its infancy...then again so am I. Liner Notes leans more towards the music scene in SD and has some good ideas on shows and whatnot, I highly recommend adding both to your bookmarks.
Upcomings concerts, SXSW
Ok, so I'm still putting together my concert calendars, no fear. I am putting them together so that I'm ready to go for April but there is an intriguing pick coming up in the next few weeks. There is a South by Southwest showcase March 22 at Epicentre in Mira Mesa with The Hendrons, Scanners, Dynamite Walls, and Get Back Loretta. So if you can't make it to Austin head down to the Epicentre, its only $10.

Seu Jorge
New concert added to the Belly Up Tavern in June, Seu Jorge, of Life Aquatic fame, is a Brazilian musician, so for $25 you can pretty much go to the best concert ever....

Snow Patrol
Pretty kick ass concert tonight with Snow Patrol preceded by the Silversun Pickups and Ok Go at San Diego State. Thats 3 solid bands for about $30, concert is sold out, but if you can snag a ticket it would definitely be worth it...
